Villasis was not spared with the wrath of typhoon "COSME" as it slammed Central and Northern Luzon last Saturday, May 17, 2008. As shown in these pictures, Mayor Nato called an emergency meeting of all barangay captains in Villasis to assess the damages brought by said typhoon. The barangay captains reported that aside from the uprooted trees, fallen electric posts and trees, there were floodings in the lower areas such as portions of Barangay San Nicolas, Barraca, Bacag, Lomboy and along the Agno river. Crops (corn, vegetable and palay) were alse damaged. We are still waiting for the official report of our Municipal Agriculturist as to the extent of damages on agricultural crops. Barangay Labit, up to this writing, does not have electricity, but it was already reported to PANELCO and they promised to send their concerned personnel. Mayor Nato has instructed the Engineering Department, Municipal Agricultural Office, Municipal Health Office, MSWDO and the Road Maintenance Group Personnel to go around the municipality to monitor and report the damages and to extend possible assistance to the typhoon victims.
In times like this, the strength of leadership of our town and barangay leaders is tested and the support and cooperation of Villasinians are really needed
