Another 50 students benefited from the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) as the local government unit implements the program for the third time. This years’ SPES is under the supervision of the newly-designated Public Employment Service Officer Manager, Arnel Arimas.

SPES is mandated under the Republic Act No. 9547 that aims to help the children of financially-challenged families in the municipality pursue their education by providing income to augment their expenses come enrolment.

The SPES started on May 10 and will last for 20 working days. In line with their employment, the 50 student beneficiaries were deployed on Geo-tagging of roads and houses, Road Survey and Data Gathering, survey of informal settlers, Barangay accounting, survey of market establishments, field assistance, composting assistance, update records of delinquent real property taxpayers, filling and book arrangement, book covering and cataloguing, encoding and filling hazard maps and office assistance.

The students will be paid in cash wherein the LGU shoulders 60% of income and 40% shall be paid by the Department of Labor and Employment.
