The Ladies Brigade (Lab) of VIllasis, Inc. celebrated its 18 years of community service along with its annual Christmas Celebration held at the Villasis Public Auditorium on December 13, 2019.
It was highlighted by giving P110,000 worth of “Tulong Pangkabuhayan Showcase” to Lab Members sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Villasis and LaB. Twenty-two (22) lucky LaB Members were given assistance amounting to P5,000 each. The cash assistance can be used to start a business or add to their capital for their existing livelihood.
Original members who were called “The Debutants” were given recognition for being loyal and active in all the endeavors of the association. They were acknowledged one by one and they received a simple token from the founder, Former Mayor Dita G. Abrenica. When the organization started in 2001, there was just more than a hundred registered members but now it reached approximately 5,200.
FM Dita said, “I could not imagine that we have gone this far. I am thankful to all of you who have stayed loyal and active after 18 years. We started as a political arm of Mayor Nato but now, we are existing to empower women in our society through various trainings and seminars. And I hope that we will remain active and be united for more years for our association.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Nato S. Abrenica also graced the event and thanked all the LaB members. He stressed out his continuous support to all the endeavors of the organization. Also present were Sangguniang Bayan Members led by Vice Mayor Cheryll Tan and Board Member Chinky Perez.
Other activities which added excitement and hype to the event was the raffle draw which prizes were donated by the benefactors who continued to support the organization and its programs and projects and the Dance Contest participated by six groups. The group representing Barangay Unzad was declared champion.
