Mayor Nato receives in behalf of the Municipality of Villasis, the much-coveted SGLG Award from the Chief Political Officer of PRRD, Atty. Francis Tolentino, Incoming DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, DILG Officer-in-Charge CatalinoCuy and Undersecretary Austere Panaderoduring the national awarding ceremony at the Tent City, Manila Hotel on November 27, 2017. Joining the mayor in receiving the award are MPDC Roderick Mina and DILG MLGOO Eduviges Villanueva.
In his speech, Tolentino pointed out that the awardees are there to receive the SGLG Award because of the “servant leadership” of the mayors.
Inspired and enthusiastic after the municipality made the grade in the 2016 Seal of Good Local Governance awards, the comebacking Chief ExecutiveNato pulled out all stops to ensure that the Municipality of Villasis remain a recipient of this prestigious award which is the acid-test of a good local government.
Issuing the marching orders to all concerned that, under the lead of the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinatoras mandated by the DILG and with the persistent guidance of the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer, all instrumentalities of the municipality shall exert all efforts and resources to make Villasis fully compliant with the stringent requirements in four core areas of good governance namely: 1-GOOD FINANCIAL HOUSEKEEPING, 2- DISATER PREPAREDNESS, 3- SOCIAL PROTECTION and 4- PEACE AND ORDER.
In addition to the four core areas, the municipality must pass in at least one of the essential areas namely: 1- BUSINESS FRIENDLINESS AND COMPETITIVENESS, 2- TOURISM, CULTURE AND THE ARTS and 3- ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.
In response, all departments and agencies concerned acted like a well-rehearsed drill platoon marching in cadence to the command of the Chief Executive thereby ensuring the winning of the coveted SGLG glass plaque and the two (2) million-peso grant from the Presidential Challenge Fund.
