Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Election Candidates pledged to peaceful, orderly, honest, and drug-free elections in a Peace Covenant held at the Villasis Public Auditorium on May 2, 2018.

The event started with a Unity Walk on Triangular Park, Barraca to Auditorium and followed by signing of Peace Covenant for Peaceful, Orderly, Honest and Drug-free May 14 Barangay and SK Elections.

PCI Brendon B. Palisoc emphasized on the “drug-free” elections wherein he said that this is the first time the word “drug-free” is included in the peace covenant title. This is in line with the President Duterte intensified campaign against illegal drugs. Mayor Nato encouraged all candidates to undergo drug test.

This covenant has become almost a tradition whenever there is an election. Mayor Nato succinctly puts it: “May this peace covenant signing be a meaningful one and that all candidates bear this in their hearts and commit themselves to the essence of this covenant signing.”

Election Officer Felomina Cafe’, discussed the Fair Election Act, including the legal and illegal acts during the campaign period which will start on May 4, 2018 and will last until May 12, 2018.
