The different barangays of Villasis prepare unique talong dishes for the Talong Cookfest every year as a part of the annual celebration of Villasis Talong Festival.
Talong Cookfest was held at the Villasis Gymnasium at 1:30 PM.
This year’s cookfest had twenty entries from the different barangays.
Labit- Ginataang Talong Na May Tinapa; Poblacion Zone II BHW’s- Eggplant with Soy Sauce Side Dish; Unzad- Eggplant Rolled Bread Sandwiches; San Nicolas- Special Eggplant Churros with a Twist; Villasis I Central School SPED Center- Eggplant Lasagna Supreme; Barangobong- Cheesy Easy; Barraca- Embutidong Talong; Puelay- Ginataang Talong Recipe; Caramutan- the Original Ilocano Pinakabet sa Banga; Bacag- Eggplant Curry; Amamperez- Halaya con Talong; Poblacion Zone II Ladies’ Brigade- Eggplant Meatballs; Lipay- LA Pinoy Eggplant; San Blas- Rebusadong Itlog con Talong; Caramutan- Eggpant Roll; La Paz- Lumpiang Talong; Tombod- Pitchi Pitching Talong; Lipay- Balasenas Fresh Lumpia; Villasis Water District- Seafood Ensaladang Talong; Poblacion Zone III- Salmon Eggplant Curry.
The twenty entries received a gift pack from Maggi and five-hundred-peso consolation prize.
Barangay Amamperez won this year’s cookfest with their “Halaya con Talong” dish, and received five thousand peso cash prize, a burner gas stove with 5 refills of LPG and a gift pack from Maggi. Barangay Bacag won the second prize with their “Eggplant Curry” dish, and received three thousand cash prize and a gift pack from Maggi. And there were three barangays tied for the third place- Brgy. Caramutan, Lipay, and the Villasis Water District.
With the different entries, the creativity of Villasinians is truly showcased.
