“There’s a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it only when circumstance permit. When you are committed to do something, you accept no excuses, only result.” – Art Turock

The persistent effort and commitment of the staff of Villasis Municipal Library (VML) has paid-off once again as VML was awarded 2018 Most Diligent Public Library in the Philippines. The recognition was awarded during the 2019 National Conference for Librarians in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on March 18-12, 2019 aimed to recognize the efforts in submitting reports promptly to the National Library of the Philippines which sets an example worthy of emulation by other public libraries and barangay reading centers in the Philippines.

Regardless of the slow internet connectivity, the staff still manages to submit online reports on time. According the Normarlyn L. Evangelista, Administrative Aide/Library Staff, “Dapat maging resourceful ang isang empleyado. Madalas mahina o walang internet connection. Pero may mobile phone naman tayo na kung saan pwedeng i-access ang platform kung saan tayo nagsa-submit ng reports.” Normalyn is assigned at the client’s registration area and she prepares the draft of the report.

The award was given by the Asia Foundation and the National Library of the Philippines which was received by the Librarian-Designate, Merly S. Zambrano, during the national conference.

The award was also presented to Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica, other Municipal officials, National Agencies and LGU employees after the flag raising ceremony on March 27, 2019.
