Villasis Municipal Library (VML) joined in the nationwide celebration of the 29th Library and Information Services Month this November. Various activities were conducted inside and outside the municipal library.
The celebration kicked off on November 5 with the program dubbed as “A Day with Feliz Academy”. The members of the Glee Cub club serenaded the audience and sang Christmas songs while the dancers of the Bailey Club entertained the visitors with their graceful and spectacular dance presentations mostly ballroom. Elementary pupils of Puelay Elementary School and Villasis I Central School were invited to witness the said activities. Excitement were seen in their faces while watching the performers and they applauded all the presentations and even waned and requested for more musical presentations.
In November 7-9, VML with partnership with the Department of Education organized a Training-Workshop for Day Care Workers and K-3 Teachers on the Use of Ilokano Orthography. Experts on the said language were invited as Resource Speakers and facilitated more than eighty (80) participants. The 3-day event started with sharing on the use of Ilokano orthography. The succeeding days were more on workshop on the creation of short stories written in Ilokano. Five participants whose stories were chosen as the Best Outputs by Mr. Prescillano Bermudez, retired Chief Officer of the Philippines Information Agency, Mrs. Estela Busquerra-Guerrero, Auditor-GUMIL FILIPINAS and Mrs. Marlyn G. Del Rosario, contributor of Bannawag and one of the Resource Speakers and Facilitator of the said event.
The event was also graced by Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica and Vice Mayor Cheryll Z. Tan who thank everyone and encouraged them to continue supporting their advocacy on promoting literacy especially among children.
