The Local Government Unit of Villasis, led by Mayor Dita Abrenica, officially resumed its Fertilizer Subsidy Program on July 4, 2025, during a distribution activity held at the Don Victor M. Abrenica Sports and Evacuation Centre in Barraca.
Spearheaded by the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist under the leadership of Mr. Dionisio V. Cariño, the program continues to provide critical assistance to local farmers as they prepare for the wet cropping season. Through this initiative, farmers can purchase fertilizer at a subsidized rate of Php1,000 per bag, significantly lower than the prevailing market price of Php1,500.
This Php500 subsidy per bag serves as a valuable support mechanism to help farmers reduce production costs, maintain profitability, and ensure sustained agricultural productivity despite economic challenges.
During the event, Mayor Dita Abrenica assured the farming community of the LGU’s full commitment to providing the support and assistance they need. She emphasized that the local government continues to prioritize agricultural development and farmer welfare as key drivers of economic resilience and food security in Villasis. The event was also attended by Councilor Chris Balila, Chairman of Committee on Agriculture.
The LGU's commitment to reviving and strengthening local agriculture remains steadfast, as programs like this reflect its ongoing efforts to empower farmers and secure food supply for the community.
