100 indigent pupils were the beneficiaries of the first-ever Outreach Program of Villasis Municipal Library (VML) for this year conducted at Barraca Community School this municipality.
The program was dubbed as “Giving Back” activity which aimed to give school supplies to pupils who belong to indigent families and inspire them to strive harder in their studies until they reach their dreams. It was also conducted to promote the library and its various services, develop strong partnership with the community and promote love for books and good reading habit among the children.
The program was made possible by sponsors who donated the school supplies given to the beneficiaries. They were Mayor Nonato S. Abrenica, Former Mayor Dita G. Abrenica, Mrs. Amy Nozuelo-Ecal, Mr. MJ Racadio, Metro-Dagupan Colleges thru Prof. Louise Ian Delos Reyes-Aquino, Mr. Dindo T. Macayan, Barangobong National High School Work Immersion students, Mrs. Marilyn Manuel, Mrs. Victoria “Beck” Florendo, Mrs. Marjorie Pineda Padilla, Mrs. Rosewyn S. Mopas and family and Mrs. Sandra Mostoles.
Former Mayor Dita who donated storybooks gave a message thanking the library staff for the very nice initiative to encourage children to read books. She reiterated the benefits of reading. MJ Racadio, an international blogger and donor of the snacks, rendered a song number and shared how reading form his young age has helped him. He also inspired the students with his life success’ story.
Meanwhile, the library staff and work immersion students rendered dance numbers and storytelling which entertained the audience.
